Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, I can help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Counseling can be beneficial to individuals, couples/partners who are looking to strengthen their relationship. You can schedule online sessions held from the safety of your own home with you, your/partner, or the family at a time that is convenient for you through my easy scheduling platform.
We have all lost someone or a pet we love or close to us. The experience changes everything we do and forces us to reexamine our existence. Our typical response to grief includes physical, cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and spiritual. Some of us allow ourselves to go through the grieving process, while others delay their grieving. Either way, the process can be painful, and you need a professional like me to help you through your grieving process.
I have additional training in advanced grief counseling certification and use interventions that help move clients toward healthy grieving, growth, and meaning after loss.
Conflicts in relationships are typical and expected. However, when our experiences with conflicts become daily in our relationship, and we start to lose sleep and focus, it is time to consult with a professional like me. For example, when speaking with your partner or having a simple conversation become stressful and you are overly cautious and feel very tired, it is time for consultation with me. Likewise, the feeling of not wanting to go to work or school, or when you begin to question the relationship, is a safe time to consult with me so we can work on saving your relationship. If your significant other is not ready to come with you, it's okay for you to start first. Then, I will assess your situation, and we will decide on the next step.
The effects of substance abuse can be devasting on the family. The abuser may be sick from their addiction and have problems keeping a job and in their relationships. The person/persons have problems controlling their temper. They may quickly get angry and lash out at innocent children and family members. The entire family suffers when left untreated. Sometimes families find it difficult to admit there is a problem. This issue is nothing to be ashamed of, and you are not alone. If you or any family member is going through substance use/abuse issues, don't hesitate to get in touch with me for your initial free 15 minutes consultation.
Aggressive anger, Passive Anger, and Assertive Anger are the three types of anger that individuals often adopt when provoked. Your anger is better managed not by avoiding or refusing to acknowledge it but by knowing and understanding your triggers. Anger is a normal emotional reaction to fear, sadness and disappointment.
In therapy, I will work with you to identify your triggers, symptoms of anger issues, and coping skills. We will also examine how you can permit yourself to be angry but not allow anger to interfere with your daily activities or cause physical or mental injuries to you and your loved ones.
Many families go through separation as a result of incarceration, immigration, military deployment, and divorce.
Whatever the reasons for family separation, it is crucial to pay attention to children's physiological and psychological needs when parents go through a divorce or involuntary separation.
Children are more likely to develop stress, mental and behavioral problems in a family where one parent is away due to military deployment. Get in touch with me to see how you can maintain your own mental health, as well as your child's health as your family adjust to the changes in the family structure.
Individuals sometimes rely on their beliefs to guide them through thick and thin. Whatever your beliefs, it does not matter. What matters is that we draw on those strengths and increase those energies and views that have guided us through this point. I use cultural sensitivity and narrative therapy on issues related to cultural traditions. My first approach to religious matters is using religiously integrated psychotherapy while exploring other avenues. Contact me, and we will work on resolving the issues.
If there were parenting manuals that fit every culture, parents and children would have less to argue about and focus more on natural developmental changes. Parenting is one of those things we learn from our family of origin. We are told the rules and may not know what they mean, but we follow them anyway. When our children ask why they have to do these things, the usual response is, "that's just how we do things; that's what and how my parents did it." Sometimes, no one knows the rules as they are not clearly defined.
If you are experiencing some challenges with the rules, defiance, and behavioral issues with your children, please consult with me so we can look at setting clear boundaries and defining the rules that are clear to everyone.
